Profile of Cristina Noriega

Cristina Noriega was born in Cangas de Onís (Asturias-Spain). Licenced nurse, with several physicians in her family ancestors.

      She has always been fond of miniatures,and she built ship maquettes in her early years..One day she made her first miniature doll house..For her second work she chose  a hospital,in which she tried to reproduce  her chilhood memories.

      Her knowledge of the medical environment,her tireless search in books,shows and museums,and her shyness, make her medical scenes very detailed. Appareils and tools are faithfull replicas, given them an amazing reality appearance.

      During  her visit to Spain,Caroline Hamilton invited.Cristina to go to the London Dollshouse Festival in 1999.She is partly responsible for Cristina´s entrance in the world of proffesional miniaturing.In this first visit to the show she had a remarcable success,wich encouraged her to go on with her works: one of her medical scenes was bought by the Puppenhausmuseum Basel.

      Cristina feels a special attraction for furniture and mecanic devices, and also for tiny objects,which has led her to build styled pieces of furniture containing  1/100  scaled houses in the same style.
