Profile of Jane
Coffey
I
retired from teaching Elementary School Music in 1980. That spring I thought,"What
am I going to do with myself?!"
Then I discovered Miniatures!!
I always liked to do thing with my hands- sewing, knitting, needlework
and soon discovered that all that was available in Miniature and much,
much more!! I work in all scales though lean toward half scale.
Having
made more items than I could use, I began to sell them-- first at local
Craft Shows and then at Miniature Shows. This was fun but as I got older,
too exhausting hauling all those boxes around. The last one I did was
the Quincy, Mass. Tiny Treasures show about four years ago.
I always enjoyed teaching
so taught workshops several times at
the Quincy show and have taught at the Baltimore , Md. Small Scales Houseparty
, the Peabody,Mass .Houseparty and at the upcoming Harrisburg Houseparty.
I am also Roundtable Co-Chairman for the Harrisburg Houseparty.
My first miniature atempts
were Fimo teddy bears and small
figures, so that is where the name "Coffey's Cuties" came from.
I am
President of our local Miniature Club formerly Tiny Treasures of
Elnora, now Capitol Area Tiny Treasures.
I am still very much involved in music-play in a Bell choir, sing in the
church choir and a member of a performing Recorder Consort, The Adirondack
Baroque Consort.
I have been married for
nearly 58 years to my husband, Bill, who is a radio ham, and amateur digital
photographer and plays in the Adirondack Baroque consort as well. Our
house is run by our beloved calico cat, Cali!! We have three grown children,
Dr. Barbara Coffey, a Child Psychiatrist specializing in Tourette's Syndrome
and works in NYC, Kittie Bintz (who has three lovely daughters) and is
an Art Teacher in a nearby town, and son Richard (who has a nine year
old son) who is also a musician though now only as a hobby, but works
on computers in NYC.
