Miniature Knitting
- Most Recent 4 - Mosaics and others
Knitting for Dummies!
Although I never set out to promote
any one stitch pattern book, I now find that I have dozens from Barbara
Walker's books. There is a ongoing project to knit swatches of her patterns
in colour - her illustrations are mainly black and white. Where I can
remember the pattern, I have now added the stitch name and volume of her
book to help the army of Barbara Walker fans.
New A video
that shows me knitting in miniature to give you an idea of the size needles
and thread that I use.

The bedspread is finished. My favourite
mosaic pattern. Would suit a more masculine room. Venne Colcton thread
34/2, size 20 needles.
From this:
To this:
200 stitches per row, 9 repeats of
a 30 row pattern. It took quite a while!

I know that a lot of people come looking
for free knitting patterns from me. I'm sorry that none are written up
and to be honest they wouldn't fit a doll anyway -the requirements for
a mannequin are less stringent than a doll. I am loathe to sell patterns
that may not fulfill other people's expectations, and to give away free
patterns would be unfair on other people who are trying to make a bit
of a living from their own patterns.

There are 96 rows in this skirt, working out
at about 64 rows to the inch. Worked with a plain white Oliver
Twist thread, and black DMC80 thread, size 20 needles.

Another of Barbara Walker's patterns giving

I always find it interesting how the mosaic
patterns seems to come to life when you've finished it. Like a
Rolf Harris painting, you don't see the whole picture until the
last stroke! Venne Colcoton 34/2, size 20 needles.

Not so much a mosaic, but
the herringbone pattern used on the skirt instead of the sweater.
Venne Colcton 34/2, size 20 needles. |
Another stitch from the pattern
books. The variety is endless. Venne Colcoton 34/2, size 20 needles. |

A very effective stitch for a skirt.

After a break of a few weeks when I made three
full size scarves and am still working on another one, it was
good to make another of these little beauties.

This is slip stitch pattern
from The Big Book of Knitting Stitch patterns. It has no other name.
Simple to do and more interesting, texturally, than plain four row
stripes. |
